ANHN

The two months I spent away from here it was a common thing to be asked about the current situation in Mexico, whether it was safe to visit or not, which places I’d say would be best to avoid. My answer was always the same, Mexico in general is a safe place to be, and worth to be experienced.

Mexico City for example is definitively not safe as for you to walk around with your DSLR camera hanging from your neck, or just sitting on a bench with your laptop computer; there are certain areas where you can do that, but it is not the majority of the city. Wherever you chose to go in Mexico you would be missing the bigger picture by hanging out in just one area, it is always fun to walk around and explore.

When asked about this it always felt like they really thought people is getting shot at just as they step out their front door.

Get a bulletproof vest and come visit.

If you go up north you will find Mexicali right there at the Mexico/US border, this city is the Baja California’s capital (yeah you had it wrong, it’s neither Rosarito, nor Tijuana). I met some really good friends from over there in Mexico City probably ten years ago, and ever since we have worked together in different projects or just hung out for the fun of it.

One of these friends I lost track of for a long time and a couple of years ago I heard of him again he came up with the idea of producing something to gather the works of different individuals from that city, he came up with ANHN Aquí No Hay Nada (There Is Nothing Here), the irony and sarcasm the name holds immediately made sense to me.

So this is ANHN from Mexicali Mexico.
