Immediate & Remote

This should be a long post…

Being unemployed gives you the chance of having all the time in the World to do whatever you want or to do nothing at all, it’s like most of the things in life, up to you choosing what you want to do. A long long time ago my mom gave me a camera for me to use in school (I’m a drop out, but did go to school). The camera was a Yashica FX-3 Super2000, unlike the acoustic guitar she also gave me I did not brake the camera in rage slamming it on the wall, I took care of it pretty good for almost ten years, until it got stolen along with all my stuff and a truck in the Mexico/US border back 2007.

This one I took with my Yashica

It was a really good camera I think, it was also very cheap since she got it at a pawnshop. It also came whit a really good Telephoto and a standard lens. After some time I was pretty good at focusing I Could do it really fast and knew what to do to get what I wanted from each take, at least was good at trying.

Years have gone and I’ve happened to meet more people who are into photography…

I will try to post this in a chronological order, but will probably fail to it!!!

In This picture it’s my dad behind the camera.

A long time ago…

Abigail.

I met her on a Saturday afternoon, alter minutes and minutes of hesitation I swallowed my fear and walked up to her to introduce my self.

Now here we are, ten years later, more or less.

Drop her a line or two

I met Pablo on a Sunday afternoon in the back of a baseball field like twelve years ago while we both were trespassing private property; I think I met his sister Roxanna in 2002 or 2003 she and her boyfriend Raul once lend me some Money to get back my Yashica from the exact same Pawn Shop my mom bought it from years before. I will always be thankful.

They both are part of Centrepoint Collective

Luis Miguel and José Miguel are Brothers; we met on a Friday night in the house of someone who once was a good friend of mine. That night we were drinking beer and smoking weed, hangover free. I was young.

We met in Mexico City while he was on holydays. We went to the pyramids and after climbing the Sun pyramid he came down the steps running, like it was nothing. He is really calm when he talks.

We went out on a Saturday night like we used to, walking from one side of the city to another. Long story short, cops showed up and he got caught, I stopped the police car as if it was a Taxi and talked him out of the jam with some gum and a calling card with less than twenty pesos in it. Fucking cops!!!

The first night we met, walked the empty city streets until 5:30 am, trouble free. He came back to the city a year and a half ago but couldn’t hang out since I was taking care of my mom. Hope to see him again.

Tiago

I met him this year in Barcelona; I was lucky to hang out with the coolest people in the city (wish we would have hung more). At a time it seemed like he knew everybody in the city. He is a ladies man, and he doesn’t even have to try!!!

Erik

When we first met, I was told he was going to be mad because we were running late.

He runs a Bar in La Rambla like no one else does, he works long hours moving from one side to the other behind the counter, making sure everything goes smooth, everyday except Sundays, I honestly don’t know how he does it.

He has so many stories to tell, but he is also good listening.

And the most important thing is that he is protected by the power of the bleeeeez!!!

I am out of here.
